If your student is entering the 9th grade for the 2021-2022 school year, please apply for the high school program. The window to apply for Riverside STEM High School closes on Thursday, February 11th, 2021.

Currently, there are no openings for grades 6-8.
Further information will be sent by email from the STEM Academy Registrar mid-March.

Each student applying to the RSA for the 2021-2022 school year will be issued a lottery number (after the application window closes) both by email and U.S. mail. Please retain the letter with your lottery number for future reference. The lottery will be managed by  Cooperative Strategies, a local demography company. 


LOTTERY

  • Each student will be represented by a 6-digit lottery number.
  • Numbers will be electronically randomized and lists created for 6 High School Attendance boundaries.
  • Results from the lottery will be posted on our website (http://stemacademy.riversideunified.org/) at the end of the day on January 11th 2021. Only the lottery numbers will be posted, so please retain the letter with your lottery number for future referenceIt is the parent’s responsibility to check the website for lottery results

ACCEPTANCE PROCESS
Once lottery numbers have been drawn, students will be accepted to RSA using the following criteria: 

  • The entry requirement for students applying for the 2021-22 school year is based on a student's Performance Level Marks in Trimester 2 of the 3rd grade in both ELA and Math on their RUSD report card. Students must have performance marks of two or higher in ELA or Math.
  • All incoming 5th grade students will be invited to participated in a summer bridge program. More information will be sent at a later date. Information will also be sent about Parent Orientation. Date TBA.
  • Please note: For 5th grade students coming from outside the boundaries of RUSD, enrollment will be capped at 6% or 6 spaces out of the total of 105 projected openings.

REGISTRATION PROCESS
Only students selected for an available space are required to complete a Registration packet

  • The registration process will be sent with your lottery number. Please save that communication for reference.

Please note: There will be 105 seats open for incoming 5th grade students. Currently there are no openings for grades 6-8. Also, the waitlist ends after 8th grade – those students who are currently on our 8th grade waitlist must reapply for the high school program.
