Wait List for Clusters

 

Each student applying to the RSA for the 2021-2022 school year will be issued a lottery number (after the application window closes) both by email and U.S. mail. Please retain the letter with your lottery number for future reference. The lottery will be managed by  Cooperative Strategies, a local demography company. 


LOTTERY

  • Each student will be represented by a 6-digit lottery number.
  • Numbers will be electronically randomized and lists created for 6 High School Attendance boundaries.
  • Results from the lottery will be posted on our website (http://stemacademy.riversideunified.org/) at the end of the day on January 10th. Only the lottery numbers will be posted, so please retain the letter with your lottery number for future referenceIt is the parent’s responsibility to check the website for lottery results

ACCEPTANCE PROCESS
Once lottery numbers have been drawn, students will be accepted to RSA using the following criteria: 

  • All incoming students must have achieved a score of Standard “Exceeded”, “Met”, or “Nearly Met” on English Language Arts/Literature OR Math 2019 CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) tests. These results were mailed home in the summer of 2019. If your student’s current school does not administer CAASPP tests, a CAASPP aligned assessment will be given to your student.
  • All incoming 5th grade students will be expected to participate in our Summer Bridge Program. Please mark your calendars for the week of: June 1st. MANDATORY Parent Orientation will be held in the Spring 2020. Date TBA.
  • Please note: For 5th grade students coming from outside the boundaries of RUSD, enrollment will be capped at 6% or 6 spaces out of the total of 105 projected openings.

REGISTRATION PROCESS
Only students selected for an available space are required to complete a Registration packet

  • Parent/Guardian is required to pick up a registration packet in the Front Office of RSA between January 13th and January 24th between 8 am and 3 pm.  January 24th is the final deadline to begin the registration process in order to hold your student’s place for 5th grade. 
  • If we do not hear from you by January 24th, the student’s name will be removed and we will move to the next name on the waitlist.  It is the parent’s responsibility to check the website to see chosen lottery numbers.
  • Completed registration packets may be returned to the Registrar in the Front Office on any of the following days: 

            January 27th through February 12th from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM - No packets can be processed after 3 pm.

  • As spaces become available, they will be offered to students on the waiting list in order of lottery draw.


    Please note: There will be 105 seats open for incoming 5th grade students. Currently there are no openings for grades 6-8. Also, the waitlist ends after 8th grade – those students who are currently on our 8th grade waitlist must reapply for the high school program.
