Each student applying to the RSA for the 2017-2018 school year will be issued a lottery number (after the application window closes) both by email and U.S. mail. Please retain this letter with your lottery number for future reference. The lottery to select the students will be held on Monday, January 9th at 3:00 PM in the MPR at Riverside STEM Academy. Parents and students are welcome to attend, but it is not required. Lottery numbers will be randomly drawn until the available spaces are filled. Remaining students will be placed on a waitlist in the order their number is drawn. Accepted students will be notified via email by January 11th. Lottery results will also be posted on our website January 11th.

Criteria for acceptance and registration information will be covered at the parent information meetings. It is highly recommended that you attend one of our parent meetings, however, if you are unable to attend, please take the time to review the PowerPoint presentation that will be posted on our website after the meeting. All incoming students must have achieved a score of Standard “Exceeded”, “Met”, or “Nearly Met” on BOTH English Language Arts/Literature AND Math 2016 SBAC tests. All incoming 5th grade parents and students will be expected to participate in our Summer Bridge Program - Students: June 19-23 / Parents: June 17 & 24.

Only students selected for an available space are required to complete a registration packet. Parent/Guardian is required to complete Transfer Form and pick up registration packet in the Front Office by January 16, 2017. Completed Registration Packets may be turned in to the Registrar in the Front Office from January 17th through the 31st (8:30 AM – 3:00 PM). If we do not hear from you by January 18th the student’s name will be removed and we will move to the next name on the waitlist. As spaces become available, they will be offered to students on the wait list in the order of lottery draw.

Please note: There will be 105 seats open for incoming 5th grade students. Currently there are no openings for grades 6-8, but, if you would like to get your child’s name on the waiting list, this is the only opportunity to apply and be added to this list. Also, the waitlist ends after 8th grade – those students who are currently on our 8th grade waitlist must reapply for the high school program.
